FIND THE PERFECT JOB BY MARKETING YOURSELF

There are many ways in life to cut corners. You can save time by not sweeping the dust bunnies from under the couch. You can do grocery shopping on the way home from work instead of making an extra trip. When it comes to finding that perfect job, cutting corners could keep you in a low paying job.

Resumes take time and thought in order to get it right. The fact is though: it?s not difficult and is required in order to find the perfect job opportunity. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Stop thinking of your resume as a boring history job list
Think of your resume as the primary tool you use to market yourself to great employers. In order to be effective, marketing has to be a little creative, complete and eye-catching. These are the attributes you need to make sure your resume contains in order to catch the attention of prospective employers.

Therefore, you need to find the phrases, keywords and buzzwords that employers are looking for today in order to incorporate these into your resume. When describing your search summary, you may have written down, ?Looking for Restaurant Management Position.? What if you used ?Experienced Hospitality Manager seeking Career Opportunities in Food Industry? instead? The search idea may be the same, but by using professional-sounding buzzwords, you are going to impact the perception of the person reading your resume in a positive manner.

The key here is to never, ever misrepresent yourself, but to show that you are up to date with the latest trends.

Do not write a book ? summarize your successes
A resume is not supposed to replace an application, so don?t think you have to write every task that you completed in the past 20 years. Remember, that your resume is a marketing tool and should be used to highlight great accomplishments with enough detail to get the point across.

Let?s say you?ve managed a restaurant for the past five years. You don?t need to list everything that is routinely done during that type of career path. Instead, think of why a restaurant should hire you and expand on that. A great example of a job summary is ?Oversaw restaurant operations. I lowering customer complaints, food returns, and employee absenteeism which increased net profitability more than $50,000 per year?.

Do not be afraid to use numbers, percentages or a summary to showcase what the employer could gain by hiring you instead of someone else.

In conclusion, the key is to make the employer want to hire you, but to do so using truthful and honest means. Therefore, the first thing to do when creating your resume is to sit down and make a list of where you?ve made the biggest difference in your previous job and find the right buzzwords to highlight you on paper. The second thing to do is to list your previous positions and employers while showcasing your successes.

A job search can be tough, but if you keep your goal in sight, use the right tools and market yourself, you can find that perfect job.
